Close to Violating the NDA?

Good ol’ Jerry from IBM wrote a nice post on the “Ask the Expert” forum with Ben Ng.  He came close to violating the NDA, in my opinion.  The wording of his questions help shed some light on the mysterious exam that I’m prepping for.

Here’s what I gathered:

  1. There will be three voice gateways on the lab (SIP, MGCP, and H.323?)
  2. The dial-plan section may be “small” on words, but big in configuration requirements.
  3. Understand configuration and impact of TEHO in the environment.
  4. Understand how codec selection and CAC interact with one another.

Without further adieu…

Hi Ben,

I am a ccie voice lab candidate and have attempt 3 times for voice labs in Sydney. The recent attempt was on this Monday. When I check my score reports, I found my sections on Voice Gateway and Signalling, Dial-plan and Call Routing Features and codec selection and CAC always low.

For section Voice Gateway and Signalling part, I got 67%. For this part, I have successfully configured and registered three voice gateways. Inbound and outbound calls made successfully. I read requirements word by word and ensure I meet requirements. However, I still lose marks on this part.

For section Dial-plan and Call Routing Features, I got 48%. There are about 5 questions and look like I only get 2 questions answer correctly. I pretty sure I made test calls successfully and meet requirements. I pay attention to the calling ID display, called Party plan type, and TEHO testing with redundancy. I was disappointed that I spent couple hours focus on dial plan and results were not satisfied. So my question will be how proctor marks on this section? Based on test results or the way how I configure for Route Pattern, Route list or Route Group….

For section Codec selection and CAC, I got 0 on it. I am very sure that I program regions for sites correctly and codec relationship. I lose the mark on the transcoder and will this related to lose mark on region?

Is it possible that Cisco can publish the guideline on how proctor validate lab exam. Please understand the pressure from family and company after many times attempt. I think I am not the only one who has the same feeling. If I don’t know where I miss in above three sections, I will just keep repeat the same mistakes for the next attempt.

Looking forward to your hints.

Cheers,

Jerry

    Hi Matthew ,

Yes , When I was reading this post , I was also thinking that he was breaking the NDA and that he was lucky that Ben doesn't blame him .

With your post on the Cisco forums , I have also discovered your blog and it is very well done.

I've also began mine and I'm hoping that I will populate mine as yours .

Good Luck for your lab .
